Hi Friend,

The Great Divide

It seems simple enough that human beings would recognize the value of human life. However, there are too many indicators that tell us that concept is now in question. A recent documentary interviewed an intellectual who posited the belief that the population of humans must be diminished because the earth is not capable of sustaining more than 500 or 600 million. Since the population is now over 7 billion that means he thinks more than 90 percent of humans should be eliminated.

When asked how this should be accomplished he did not flinch when admitting that war, disease or famine were acceptable means of reaching this goal.

If this intellectual were alone it would not be of concern. But he isn't. In fact, the number who agree with him is shockingly high.

This is highlighted by the "gorilla conflict" which is only the tip of the iceberg. If you are living in a cave and haven't heard about the mother with four children who visited the Cincinnati Zoo here's the story. The youngest, a 4-year-old, wormed his way through four barriers to get inside to the moat, the gorilla habitat. Harambe, a gorilla, had to be killed to save the life of the child.

Since that time numerous petitions have been circulated to condemn the act of killing the gorilla to save a human being. A Facebook group has over 168,000 signatures. Another group has 50,000 signatures calling for Child Protective Services to remove all four children from the parents. At last count there are over 300,000 signatures to request criminal charges against the parents and the Cincinnati Zoo. All this in support of a gorilla that was killed so a human could live.

Today, as I write, there will be 2,917 abortions performed in the United States. Those are human lives, not gorillas-and this is only one day. If there were that many gorillas killed today World War III would erupt!

Since Roe vs. Wade became law in 1973 more than 59 billion humans have been murdered in the womb. And the U.S. elected a president who proposed legislation to legalize 4th Trimester abortions.

There is a GREAT divide in our country. It is the divide over the value of human life. It seems incredible that a significant proportion of the human race does not see value in its own existence.

In 2012 the city of Chicago recorded over 500 murders within the city. Every day another human is murdered in Chicago but is more concerned about 1 gorilla.

Since 9/11 in 2001 Islamic Terrorists have carried out 28,486 deadly attacks. Jihad Report claims that during the week-one week alone-from May 21, 2016 to May 27, 2016, Islamic Terrorists carried out 39 attacks resulting in 331 deaths in 10 countries.

Just as alarming may be the number of comments on web sites following news stories about the death of Harambe. Many call for the death of the parents. Others go into diatribes that are terribly blasphemous against God.

We may be witnessing a worldwide spiritual change-not in HOW God is worshipped-but WHAT god is worshipped. Mankind is rapidly falling on its face to worship the god of death. The God of life is being blasphemed across the internet and in the public news media.

Jesus described such a time as this. He said that a time is coming when "there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now-and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive...." (Matt. 24:21-22 NIV). The greatest threat to man's existence is man himself and Jesus must return to keep man from exterminating himself.

Jesus once used sparrows as a metaphor for God's concern for mankind. "Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?" (Luke 12:5-7) By comparison, the hairs of your head are numbered. "You are of more value than many sparrows." However concerned God may be for the death of a gorilla, He is more concerned for the life of the child. The problems of this world are caused by people whose morality doesn't value the life of a human.

The Prophet Isaiah gave great hope for mankind when he wrote about a major change that will come to the world when the Messiah returns. Jesus will "cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible." Then Isaiah quotes Jesus as saying, "I will make a man more precious than fine gold." (Isaiah 13:11-12 KJV).

What will it mean for mankind when the value of a human increases? For one thing, no politician can be bribed because man is more valuable than money. For another, no mother will take the life of her child. Body parts won't be harvested for medical research-crime will cease-wars will end. The list is endless.

The Great Divide between the God of Life and man must be closed. It is the God of Life who values human life so much that He gave the life of His Son so mankind could live. Jesus did not die for gorillas. He made us in His image and that's the difference between a man and a gorilla.

Until next time,
